German Business in China
Greater Shanghai Innovation Study
China has risen to the world’s top 20 most innovative countries as first middle-income economy ever in 2018. The country’s role as leading Asian innovation powerhouse has also impacted German companies’ activities in China.
How do these companies ensure to use their full potential in this highly fertile innovation environment and how do they cope with increasingly stronger competition from local players as well as challenging regulatory issues?
The second 'Greater Shanghai Innovation Survey', conducted by the German Chamber of Commerce in China, the Tongji University and goetzpartners, shows that innovation has become a key driver for success for even more companies in 2018 compared to 2017.
This year’s study interviewed more than 100 German manufacturing companies in the greater Shanghai area, confirming the trends and challenges observed by the first survey 'The Puzzle of Innovation in China' and adding the missing parts for MNCs to expand their local innovation competencies.
