China is rapidly transforming into an innovation powerhouse requiring Multinational Corporations (MNCs) to keep pace to catch up with local competition and making apparent that innovation is vital for future growth in China.

But how can companies evolve their products in order to provide innovative service and business models?

For this report, goetzpartners has interviewed more than 100 German corporations operating subsidiaries in the Chinese market. Results show that many have recognized the importance of innovation but lack operational development. Based on these findings, goetzpartners has developed the Innovation Benchmarking Tool helping companies to identify their strengths and weaknesses regarding their innovation performance and therefore providing guidance to MNCs on how to develop a concrete innovation road map.
