In September and October 2009, goetzpartners conducted a representative survey among Germans aged between 14 to 69 years, asking, in addition to usage intensity, about requirements, ideas and willingness to pay for IPTV. Preliminary results are now available.

There is a clear indicator that consumers are turning increasingly towards IPTV. 73% of participants (among them 67% irregular and 6% regular (at least once a week) users) are using WebTV; 45% more than in the past year. Video on Demand represents about 34% (including 1% regular users). This constitutes remarkable increase of 111%, compared to our previous 2008 survey. The increase of the usage of IPTV via close networks is even higher: Despite a very low usage in 2008, the increase between 2008 and 2009 of 467% is enormous - regular users have increased from 1.2 to 4.5% and irregular users from 0.6 to 5.75 out of all survey participants.
