The Würth Group, mainly operating as a wholesaler of fasteners and assembly technology, sold a major part of its solar business to BayWa, a German company operating in the agriculture, building materials and energy sector. goetzpartners CORPORATE FINANCE acted as exclusive financial advisor to the Würth Group and Würth Solar.
Würth Solar, a division of the Würth Group, has divested its photovoltaic trade and photovoltaic mounting systems business to BayWa. In particular, Würth Solar sold the activities in the specialized dealer sector in Germany and Switzerland (SolarMarkt Switzerland), the mounting systems manufacturer Creotecc with its activities in Germany and the US and the O&M segment for solar power plants.
Based on a comprehensive evaluation on the future perspectives of its solar activities, Würth Group came to the decision to divest Würth Solar‘s retail and mounting systems activities. Karl-Heinz Groß, CEO of Würth Solar said “We have to come to the conclusion that major basic conditions and prerequisites for success on the photovoltaic market do not apply so much to the Würth Group as they do to companies which have defined renewable energies as their core business”.
