Successful Restructuring by Bundling Competences

In September 2008, goetzpartners launched the largest representative online restructuring survey of almost 800 experts, among them about 650 bankers. Since that time, the economic situation of many companies has changed, for some of them dramatically. This has given reason to goetzpartners to repeat the survey 12 months later. The current results show that some of the relevant levers to overcome the crisis have changed, some of them gaining enormous importance:

• Immediate action and rapid implementation successes are needed more than ever
• The crisis will most rapidly be overcome by a team of consultants and interim managers from one company ("winning team")
• The strategic and financial know-how of consultants, combined with management competency and operational expertise of interim managers, will help overcome the crisis sustainably and enables the development of ideal solutions
• Consultants and interim managers will need to make themselves redundant. If they are still employed after 24 months, the problems will not have been resolved timely.
