"Rakeling" or the restructuring of public administration in Germany

In the years to come, public administration in Germany will be facing the challenge to increase their efficiency by cooperation within and between the various authorities. Experiences in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom demonstrate that the common providing of services in so-called shared services centers gains more and more significance. Such service centers are very interesting also for the local government in Germany.
