The first 100 days are some of the most exciting in a new job. Everything is new and unusual – and this is when the way is set for successful development within the Company. Read accounts of how Florian Kramer (Management Consulting) and Hans-Peter Ressel (Corporate Finance) found their first 14 weeks:

Week 1
Meeting with my mentor, meet old colleagues from training; issued with my kit (laptop, Blackberry, rental car card, Company credit card); briefing from Staffing Manager for brief help with a pitch; instruction on how to use the internal databases.
Week 2
Meetings with Sector Heads for introduction to various Industry Groups; jog along the Isar river with two colleagues and lunch meeting with new colleagues on Tuesday; received a few more small tasks from the Staffer (research, profile creation, updating assessments).
Weeks 3-4
Conducted an indicative multiples-based sector assessment in a special sub-area of the consumer goods industry; researched potential European add-on takeover targets in the Medical Technology field for a German PE Fund in close coordination with European colleagues; created a pitch for the sale of a European machine construction company.
Weeks 6-7
Broke up to go on a two-week boot camp with the Management Consultants – lots of tool training sessions, but also a chance to get to know each other.
Week 8
Worked with goetzpartners Management Consulting colleagues on preparing a pitch for the takeover of a German cable TV company; market analysis was carried out by the consultants, and corporate analysis and assessment indicators by Corporate Finance.
Week 12
Took mandate from the PE Fund; gpMC responsible for Commercial Due Diligence, gpCF responsible for process control and information analysis; created a financial model for assessment; ongoing drafting of presentations on findings from the data room.
Week 14
While the first project is still in full swing, I work in parallel on another Buy Side Mandate for an international PE Fund; preparation of an LBO, analysis of documents provided in physical data room with lawyers and auditors; introduce further process steps.

Week 1
Meeting with my new hire mentor, tour of the building to meet colleagues; issued with a laptop, Blackberry, rental car card and Company credit card; briefing on my first project in Berlin with an international energy provider, flight from Munich to Berlin. And that was just my first day.
Before the weekend: office Friday, lunch with colleagues, followed by a soccer match (we won, or course).
Week 3
Preparation for a major client workshop (lots of work, even more PowerPoint slides, hardly any sleep but awesome team spirit, lots of fun and solidarity); my own small role as moderator in the workshop; we had a team meal after the workshop and the client was full of praise – I was so proud.
Weeks 6-7
Two-week “project holiday” so I can go to the boot camp at Spitzingsee Lake. Introduced along with other newbies to various topic areas such as financials and communications training. There are also a number of events in the evenings - night hike in the mountains, for example.
Week 11
Successfully complete my first client project and another project is already at tender stage. Work with team colleagues to produce project documentation, which we then present to colleagues in a knowledge meeting. The project leader asks me to do the presentation and I answer all questions. I am really amazed at how quickly I have picked up the new topic.
Week12
Receive performance feedback from my project leader and we talk about what would be the best project work for me to do next, and I have my quarterly interview with my mentor.
Weeks 13-14
My second project for goetzpartners has started and I throw myself into planning work.
