I got to know goetzpartners at a joint workshop organized by the student consulting service. At the time, I appreciated the very open and friendly manner in which the consultants spoke with the students, which is why I applied to the company once I finished my studies. Today, I carry out workshops myself at universities and try to communicate to the students what sets goetzpartners apart from other companies: primarily the friendly environment in which colleagues work with one another and the opportunity make your mark regardless of where you are in the corporate hierarchy.
When I graduated from school and finished my period of civilian service, I had the idea that I wanted to work in event management. At the time, a course in Business Management seemed to be a good place to start. During my studies in Bayreuth, I became familiar with the student consulting initiative “Junior Beratung Bayreuth” and decided that consulting was what I wanted to do. Working for the JBB gave me my first experience of consulting, while also actively introducing me to the world of enterprise. In addition to this, I completed two classic industry internships and spent a semester studying in the USA.
Over the course of the financial crisis, we received an order from a medium-sized automobile supplier. The financing banks expected a neutral assessment on the economic situation of the supplier and its sustainability. Projects in such a restructuring environment are characterized by long working hours and intensive input, as, being a consultant, you feel directly responsible for the company and the employees with whom you work on site.
In my professional and private life, I am a fanatic when it comes to cars and the car industry. My personal preference is, however, older cars (classics and modern classics).
My advice to any student interested in working in corporate consulting: you don't get there through study alone. It is more important to use the time sensibly and to gather as much experience as possible – through internships, periods abroad or commitments at university.
